Giving Wings to Fly - Pilot Training Programme
Giving Wings to Fly is a fully supported aviation career programme enabling women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to become skilled, industry-ready commercial pilots. The programme offers approximately 20 months of training covering Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and ATR Type Rating, preparing young women across India to become airline-ready pilots.
This is a CSR initiative by IndiGoReach, implemented by BharatCares (SMEC Trust), with training provided by Chimes Aviation Academy, a DGCA-approved Flying Training Organisation.
CPL is a licence awarded by DGCA that allows an individual to work as a commercial pilot. It requires completion of DGCA examinations, flying hours, medical certifications, RTR(A) licence, and English proficiency requirements.
Type Rating is a certification that authorizes a pilot to fly a specific commercial aircraft model such as Airbus A320 or Boeing 737.
ATR Type Rating qualifies a pilot to operate ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft. The training generally takes 2–3 months and makes candidates eligible to apply for First Officer positions.
