Focussing On ‘The Little Things In Life’ Helped This Young Boy Resume Education During The Pandemic

“Happiness is enjoying the little things in life.”

The little things are essential because they are a big part of our lives. Big events occur sporadically while the small ones happen from moment to moment. When you neglect the little things, you miss out on enjoying a considerable swath of your life.

This is 15-year-old Yash’s belief, and what he practises. A resident of Nagpur, Maharashtra, Yash is a student of class 10.

He belongs to a lower-middle-class family. His father works as a painter and his mother works as a helper at farms. He lives with five other siblings, and the family struggles financially to make ends meet and support the children’s education.

Yash and his family have been victims of the harsh impacts owing to the multiple lockdowns. They suffered a lack of essential resources, financial stability, medical services etc. During this time, Yash had stopped his education to help his family. This troubled him a lot as he was sincere towards his studies and is passionate about learning new concepts.

Over time, he realised that he cannot blame his situation and remained upset. He knew if he wanted to learn, he could find other ways. So with the help of his elder brother, he began brushing up his skills and knowledge. Every day, he would revise old lessons, his brother would clear his doubts, and sometimes even explain new concepts.

Soon, through word of mouth, he heard about the BharatCare e Shiksha initiative launched by BharatCares. Yash enrolled himself at the Nagur Digital Learning Centre (DLC) and attended regular classes.

Now, he strongly believes that the program has helped him in building his steps forward by overcoming the backlog caused by the lockdown.

In the future, Yash aspires to become a mechanical engineer and is currently working towards fulfilling his dream. He also hopes to support his family who has always stood by him.
