Contact UsEvery child has dreams about what they would like to do when they grow up. Sometimes, children’s dreams seem realistic, such as when a strong, athletic child talks about wanting to go into professional sports. Often children have more fanciful ideas, such as wanting to become a famous and successful movie star or singer.
As parents, we wonder how to best respond to our children’s dreams. Should we blindly encourage them to believe “you can be anything you want to be, honey” or should we kindly point out that there are many obstacles on the road to success, and many dreams never come true? How much should we teach children about reality and prepare them to live in the real world?
Meet Chitransh Verma, a young and aspiring boy studying in class 9. He dreams of becoming an army soldier when he grows up so that he can serve his country. He lives in a joint family with his grandparents, and his father works as a delivery boy at a local printing press.
Chitransh was one of the lucky ones during the lockdown. He got to keep his education on track and he could attend online classes. But he wanted to do something more to improve his life skills and digital literacy.
So, he joined the Bharat E Shiksha centre last year. After attending regular classes till today, Chritransh is having a very good experience at the #DigitallyLearningCentre of Jaipur, Rajasthan. Not only has his opinion about himself changed but he has also improved academically.
He felt that the teachers helped him so much that concepts he struggled to grasp earlier, are easier to understand now. He can solve tough math problems after the teacher explained to him once. The centre also helped Chithransh gain life skills like using technology. This helped him access online worksheets to broaden his knowledge.
Along with life skills, he gained good manners and habits from his peers. The same was appreciated by his mentors. Further, he gained knowledge on self-care, self-esteem and managing negative thoughts.
