To End The Cycle of Poverty, This Family Chose Education

Like a tree, poverty has many roots. But among the many causes of global poverty, one that stands out is education.

Not every person without an education is extremely poor. But most of those living in extreme poverty do lack basic education. Those living below the poverty line are more likely to keep their children out of school, which means that their children will also have a greater chance of living in poverty. Education is the great equalizer.

This is the story of Sapna, a class 7 student who lives in a small town named Dubalu in Haryana. She belongs to a humble family. Her mother is a housewife and her father works as a labourer in Gurugram.

Though the family never faced any financial difficulties, they understood the importance of education and knowledge for a good career. They do not want their daughter to be stuck in the vicious cycle of poverty. So they provided her with the best education at RJL Public School.

However, with the changing world, learning is also changing. Sapna adapted to the same. Her parents enrolled her on the Bharat E Shiksha program organized at the Dubalu Digital Learning Centre. Here, she gets access to digital devices, mentored learning, extracurricular activities, and self-development programs.

After attending regular classes, Sapna expressed the joy of studying at the centre. She believes it has taught her how to use digital resources like tabs. She also enjoys the group study sessions that allow students to collectively clear their doubts and build a strong academic base.

As her name suggests, Sapna dreams big. She aspires to become an IAS officer and serve the people.
