Despite An Education Deficit Across the World, Sadhna, A Young Girl From Rural Haryana Is Continuing Her Studies

The Covid-19 pandemic impacted the Indian education system and led to deficits in learning for children. Rural areas faced a much harsher brunt as there was a lack of resources and digital facilities.
Sadhna, a student at the Bhirawati Bharat E Shiksha Centre, Haryana was one of the girls affected by the education deficit. Coming from a marginalised family, Sadhna’s mother is a homemaker, and her father is a carpenter.
After the lockdown, Sadhna’s school did not conduct online classes. The school did not have enough faculty members or technology to record the lessons. But Sadhna’s mother did not want her daughter to miss out on her education. So, she enrolled her into the Bhirawati centre in Hindi medium.


Today, not only has the centre helped Sadhna continue her education but it has also allowed her to grow at a time when the world is facing a crisis. She says that she loves that the centre provides her with valuable learning resources.

“The educators reinforce the learning concepts through group study sessions which is my favourite part of the program.”

She believes it provides a platform for students to clear their doubts and broaden their horizons with each other’s stories. In the future, Sadhna aspires to become a teacher and shape young minds.
